The new season is in full swing, which means it's time to plan that perfect Fall trip. This year, we were craving a road trip up the beautiful coast of California, and so we did just that. It turned out to be the perfect cool-weather getaway - the shoreline is beautiful all year long but starts to feel magical as the sky turns a shade darker and the air starts to chill.
As our Fall '16 collection is built around the notion of this trip, we didn't take these travel plans lightly. We planned each stop diligently and scouted the most beautiful spots in each destination. We ultimately mastered the ultimate California-Coast adventure, so we figure it's only right to share with you here. Enjoy!
LA --> Ojai (drive time: 1.5 hours)
What to do: Walk around quaint Downtown Ojai. Peek inside their art galleries and antique shops. If you feel like hiking, venture out to Rose Valley Falls in Los Padres National Forest. The trail, which leads to a cascading waterfall, is enchantedly beautiful all the way through.
Ojai --> Grover Beach (drive time: 2 hours)
What to do: Check out the Grover Beach Dunes. These long stretches of sand in muted dessert hues are endlessly photo-worthy. Stop by Monarch Grove Tasting Room for some wine, cheese, and relaxation.
Grover Beach --> Cambria (drive time: 1 hour)
What to do: Pull off the highway at Moonstone Drive and look out over the coast. If you stop around dusk, this spot is breathtakingly beautiful.
Cambria --> San Simeon (drive time: 15 minutes)
What to do: Settle in for a night by the coast at San Simeon State Park and Campground near Hearst Castle. If you snag a camping spot nearer to the beach, you can hear the waves crashing as you sleep.
Big Sur --> San Francisco (drive time: 3 hours)
What to do: Feel the sand beneath your feet at Ocean Beach. Pick up some dinner at Ocean Beach Deli and then head over to Golden Gate Park for a much-deserved picnic feast.
